Ste. Genevieve is about 60 miles (97 km) south of St. Louis on Highway 32, roughly an hour's drive. The Great River Road (Highway 61) also connects through here. There is no passenger rail service and no public transit from St. Louis — a car is essential. The ferry at Modoc, Illinois provides a scenic crossing from the Illinois side of the Mississippi if you are approaching from the east.
