Ste. Genevieve is essentially an open-air museum of French colonial architecture. The core of the visit is the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park, which encompasses several of the key historic buildings and provides interpretive context. The Bolduc House and Felix Vallé House are the most visitor-ready. The old cemetery on the edge of town is worth a short walk for its 18th-century inscriptions and the notable Missourians buried there.
Beyond the architecture, the Cave Vineyard just outside town offers wine tastings in a literal cave — a distinctly off-beat experience. The Great River Road runs right through town, connecting to other French colonial sites along the Mississippi.
