Bars and Cafes

The best bar-hopping in St. Louis clusters in a few neighbourhoods. Soulard, the old French market district south of downtown, is the liveliest — a dense grid of brick rowhouses with bars that range from sports dives to live blues venues. The area hosts the city's massive Mardi Gras celebration each February.

The Central West End, north of Forest Park, has a more polished stretch of cafes and wine bars along Euclid Avenue, good for a quieter evening. The Grove, just east of the park on Manchester Avenue, is the city's main LGBTQ+ nightlife strip with a concentration of bars and clubs.

St. Louis has a strong craft beer scene — local breweries include 4 Hands, Schlafly, and Urban Chestnut, all of which have taprooms open to visitors.
