Bridger Bowl

Bridger Bowl is Bozeman's home ski area, sitting 16 miles north of town in the Bridger Mountains. It receives an average of 350 inches of snow a year, consistently cold and dry, which gives it excellent powder. The terrain spans beginner green runs through to the steep north-facing couloirs and bowls of the Ridge — some of the most challenging lift-accessible skiing in the region.

The non-profit structure means Bridger Bowl has never sold to a major ski conglomerate, so day tickets cost significantly less than comparable destinations in Utah or Colorado. Crowds are manageable even on peak weekends. The base lodge is simple but functional.

Season typically runs from December through April, weather depending. Multiple ski schools operate at the resort; equipment rental is available at the base and in Bozeman. The drive from downtown takes about 25 minutes.

A story
Bridger Bowl is a non-profit ski area, owned by the ski area association rather than a corporation, which has kept it relatively affordable and uncrowded compared to the big commercial resorts of Wyoming and Colorado. The 'Ridge' — the out-of-bounds-accessible terrain at the top — is notoriously serious steep skiing that has a cult following among advanced skiers.
