Scottsbluff is in the western Nebraska Panhandle, about 190 miles (305 km) west of Chimney Rock and 360 miles (580 km) west of Omaha. The most direct approach from the east is US-26 west from I-80 at Ogallala. From Denver, take I-76 northeast then US-71 north — about 190 miles.
The Western Nebraska Regional Airport (BFF), known locally as Scottsbluff Airport, has daily connections to Denver. Amtrak does not serve this area. Most visitors arrive by car; there is no practical alternative for exploring the national monument and surrounding area.
