Marquis Opera House

The Marquis Opera House on Broadway dates from the early 20th century and is one of the most handsome commercial buildings in downtown Scottsbluff. Built in a Romanesque Revival style, the building retains its original facade and much of its ornamental brickwork — a rarity in the Nebraska Panhandle, where many historic main street buildings have been stripped or lost to fire and development.

The building stands a block from the Midwest Theater and was part of the same downtown cultural cluster that served the region for much of the 20th century. Today it is used for community events and serves as a landmark on the Broadway walking route through the downtown business district.
