The Santa Fe Saloon, on the north side of Goldfield, opened in 1905 and claims to be the longest continually-running business in the town — which, given how many of Goldfield's businesses simply gave up between 1910 and 1945, is a low bar but a real one. The original building burned in 1923 and was rebuilt in the same year; the bar itself, the back-bar mirror, and a great deal of mining memorabilia survived.
It is a working bar, not a museum, but the dollar bills tacked to the ceiling, the deer heads, the ancient cash register, and the regulars at the counter cover the museum end fairly well. The food is short order — burgers, sandwiches, breakfast — and the room is cold beer warm. The saloon also has a few basic motel rooms behind it, which are the closest thing in Goldfield to a place to stay.
