Chinatown

Spring Mountain Road's Asian strip — restaurants, mahjong, late-night noodles

Las Vegas's Chinatown is not a tight historic neighbourhood like San Francisco's or New York's — it is a three-mile commercial strip along Spring Mountain Road, west of the Strip, packed with mini-malls and free parking. What it lacks in walkable charm it more than makes up for in food: this is genuinely one of the best places to eat in Las Vegas, full stop.

Spring Mountain runs the whole gamut of East and Southeast Asian cuisine, often in unassuming strip-mall fronts: Lotus of Siam (Thai), Monta (ramen), Yui Edomae (sushi), Raku (yakitori), Sweets Raku (Japanese kaiseki dessert tasting menu), HoBak (Korean barbecue), and dozens more. Many spots stay open well past midnight, making this the obvious post-show or post-gambling stop for people who want serious food at 1 a.m.

You will need a car or a rideshare to get there from the Strip — it is just far enough that walking is unpleasant, even in good weather. Most restaurants do not take reservations for small parties; expect a wait at the marquee spots on weekends.
