Las Vegas's main classical performance venue opened in 2012 in the downtown Symphony Park redevelopment. The Smith Center deliberately turned away from the Strip's spectacle aesthetic, choosing a serious art-deco design inspired by the Hoover Dam and the Boulder Dam Hotel. It is the city's most architecturally significant new building of the last two decades.
The complex contains three performance halls — the 2,050-seat Reynolds Hall, a 250-seat jazz cabaret called Myron's, and a 250-seat black-box theatre. It hosts the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Nevada Ballet Theatre, and a regular run of touring Broadway shows. A genuine antidote to the Strip if you want a couple of hours that feel like normal city life, with a properly grown-up bar.
