Sloan Canyon NCA is on the southern edge of the Las Vegas metropolitan area, about 35 km from the Strip and 15 km south of Henderson. The most reliable trailhead is at the south end of the Anthem development — take Las Vegas Boulevard south past Henderson, turn onto Volunteer Boulevard, and follow signs for Nawghaw Poa Road, which becomes dirt.
The last kilometre or two of dirt road to the petroglyph trailhead are washboarded and rocky. A passenger car may make it in dry weather but high-clearance is strongly recommended. After rain the road can be impassable for days.
There is no public transport. Plan a half-day with a rental car from Las Vegas, ideally combined with Seven Magic Mountains on the way back.
