The two reasons to come here are the petroglyph trail in Sloan Canyon itself and serious solitude in the North McCullough Wilderness. Both reward effort: the dirt access roads need clearance, the trails are unshaded, and water is non-existent — bring more than you think you need. The nearby Seven Magic Mountains, while not strictly inside the NCA, are the most photographed art installation in southern Nevada and worth the short detour on the way down from Las Vegas.
