Getting There

Hanover is not the easiest place to reach without a car, but connections exist.

By car: Hanover is about 2.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from Portland, Maine via I-89. From the south, I-91 through Vermont connects to the Ledyard Bridge. Parking is tight in the village center, especially on weekdays.

By bus: Dartmouth Coach runs multiple daily coaches between Hanover and Boston's South Station (about 2 hours 45 minutes) and Logan Airport, with stops in Manchester, NH. The service is reliable and well-used. Advance booking is recommended in peak leaf season and around Dartmouth events.

By train: The nearest Amtrak station is White River Junction, Vermont, about 5 miles away across the river, served by the Vermonter route (New York–Washington to St Albans). A taxi or rideshare from White River Junction to Hanover takes about 10 minutes.

By air: Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is about 90 minutes south. Boston Logan (BOS) is roughly 2 hours 30 minutes by car but the Dartmouth Coach bus makes it a reasonable option without driving.
