The taproom side of Schilling's riverside mill building is worth a separate mention for an evening drink even if you're not eating. The river-facing deck is one of the best outdoor drinking spots in northern New Hampshire — on a clear summer evening, with the Ammonoosuc below and the sky fading above the mountains, a glass of their Czech-style pilsner is close to perfect. The lager program is serious: dry-hopped, unfiltered, lagered properly. Worth a return visit to try more than one.
