Maxwell Place Park is the northern end of Hoboken's waterfront promenade, on the site of the old Maxwell House coffee factory whose neon sign used to light up the river at night. The factory is gone — converted to apartments in the 2000s — but the riverfront has been rebuilt as a long lawn with playgrounds, a pier, and a stretch of cycle path.
The view here looks straight onto the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with the George Washington Bridge visible to the north. Quieter than Pier A on weekends, with better swings for small children. Free, always open.
