Gallery Aferro is an independent contemporary arts space in downtown Newark, known for exhibitions, artist studios, and community-focused programming. It gives visitors a look at the city's living arts scene rather than only its grand civic buildings or larger museums.
The gallery is most rewarding when an exhibition or open studio event is running, so check current hours before going. It is a good addition to a downtown Newark walk for travelers interested in local culture and post-industrial city spaces.
