The Newark Museum of Art is the largest museum in New Jersey and one of the more underrated in the Northeast. The collection is genuinely strong in American art, Tibetan art (one of the finest collections in the world), and decorative arts. The Ballantine House, an 1885 Victorian mansion on the museum grounds, is a National Historic Landmark. Admission is free on certain days; check the museum website for current hours and pricing.
