Saint Peter the Apostle Church

The 1865 Gothic Revival Roman Catholic church at 94 Somerset Street is the most architecturally striking church in New Brunswick — a brownstone pile with a tall spire, pointed arch windows, and a vaulted interior. It was built for the city's mostly Irish Catholic working class in the wake of the Civil War and is now also a Latin Mass parish, drawing worshippers from across central Jersey.

The interior includes stained glass from Munich and a fine high altar. Open for daily Mass; outside services the church is usually unlocked during the day for quiet visits.
