Trenton is well connected by rail and sits almost exactly halfway between New York and Philadelphia — 56 miles from Manhattan, 33 miles from Philadelphia. This makes it an easy stop rather than a destination requiring a dedicated journey, though it deserves more time than a quick visit allows.
By train: The Trenton Transit Center on Angle Street is the main hub. NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor line connects Trenton to Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station, with frequent service throughout the day (roughly 75–90 minutes to New York). SEPTA's regional rail line connects to Philadelphia 30th Street Station in about 40 minutes. Amtrak Acela and Northeast Regional trains also stop here, making Trenton accessible from Boston, Washington, and points in between.
By car: I-95 passes east of the city, with Route 1 running through the northern suburbs. Parking in downtown Trenton is generally easy and cheap compared to Philadelphia or New York.
By bus: NJ Transit operates bus routes throughout the region. The River Line light rail connects Trenton Transit Center south to Camden, New Jersey, with connections to PATCO trains for central Philadelphia.
