A car is essential. Angel Fire is a small village and the resort base area, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Enchanted Circle byway are all reachable by car within a few minutes to half an hour of each other. There is no local bus service and no ride-sharing to speak of. Park at the resort or the village centre and most things within the village are walkable from there.
In winter, four-wheel drive or snow chains are strongly advisable. The roads from Taos over Palo Flechado Pass and from Red River over Bobcat Pass can close or become treacherous in heavy snow. Allow extra time and check NMDOT road conditions before setting out.
