Chama is a small town with one world-class attraction and a lot of spectacular scenery around it. The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is the main event: a 64-mile narrow-gauge steam railway that climbs over Cumbres Pass into Colorado, one of the greatest rail journeys in North America. Everything else in Chama — hiking, fishing, hunting, watching the aspens turn gold in fall — plays a supporting role.
