Española sits at the junction of US-84 and US-285, about 40 kilometres north of Santa Fe and 55 kilometres north of Albuquerque. Most visitors arrive by car — there is no passenger rail service and bus connections are limited.
The nearest major airport is Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), roughly an hour's drive south on US-285. Santa Fe Regional Airport (SAF) is closer at about 35 minutes, but has fewer flight options. From Santa Fe, take US-84/285 north through the Pojoaque Valley; the drive is straightforward and passes through pueblo lands with occasional roadside stands selling pottery and jewelry.
Rental cars from Albuquerque give you the most flexibility, as Española itself and the surrounding attractions are difficult to visit without your own transport.
