Hudson is small enough to cover almost entirely on foot. The Amtrak station sits at the western end of Warren Street, and the walk from the platform to the main antiques and restaurant strip takes under ten minutes. The city's grid is compact: most visitors never need a car while they are in town.
Taxis and ride-shares are available but not always quick to arrive; if you plan to visit Olana State Historic Site or other spots outside the walkable centre, either rent a car or arrange a lift in advance. The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is reached by ferry or boat tour in summer, not by foot.
