Grand Central Oyster Bar

Cavernous seafood institution in the lower level of Grand Central Terminal, open since 1913

The Oyster Bar occupies the vaulted Guastavino-tiled basement of Grand Central and has been serving New England clam chowder and pan roasts since 1913. The menu runs to thirty or more oyster varieties on any given day. The acoustic trick of the Whispering Gallery corridor outside lets you whisper to someone standing in the opposite corner of the vault.
