The Hotel Saranac is the six-storey brick building anchoring Main Street, opened in 1927 as one of the largest hotels in the Adirondacks. The lobby was designed as a faithful reproduction of the foyer of the Davanzati Palace in Florence — an elaborate coffered ceiling, vaulted plaster, and a stone fireplace that feels properly out of place in a small Adirondack town.
The hotel went through decades of decline and was lavishly restored in 2018. It is again the social heart of the village: the lobby bar and the rooftop pub are busy with both guests and locals, and the dining room is one of the better options in town. Worth a walk through even if you are not staying.
