Getting Around

Downtown Troy is compact and entirely walkable. The historic district, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, and the Hart-Cluett Mansion are all within a few blocks of each other on and around Broadway and Second Street. The RPI campus is a 15-minute uphill walk from the city centre, or a short rideshare ride.

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) runs buses throughout Troy and connects it to Albany and other Capital District towns. For most visitors, however, a car or rideshare service is the easiest way to move between Troy and the surrounding area. Parking in the downtown garages is inexpensive; street parking is readily available on weekends and evenings.

Cycling is possible on River Street and parts of the downtown grid, though the hill up to RPI and Prospect Park is steep. The Hudson River waterfront has a developing trail network that connects south toward Albany.
