Getting There

Wilmington International Airport (ILM) is served by American, Delta, United, and Allegiant, with direct connections to Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and a handful of other cities. It's a small, convenient airport with no hub connections — most through-routes involve Charlotte or Atlanta.

By road, Wilmington is 2.5 to 3 hours from Raleigh via US-74, 3 hours from Charlotte, and about 5 hours from Washington DC. The downtown area is easily reached from the highway and parking is relatively straightforward.

There is no passenger rail service to Wilmington, which is somewhat surprising given the city's 19th-century railroad importance. The closest Amtrak stops are in Raleigh (2.5 hours northwest) and in Rocky Mount.
