Firestone Metro Park

A large Summit Metro Parks reserve with wetlands, trails, sledding hills, and lake views on Akron's south side.

Firestone Metro Park is one of Akron's most useful green escapes, with trails running through meadow, woodland, wetlands, and around Tuscarawas Meadows and Little Turtle Pond. It is less monumental than Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but much easier to fold into a short Akron visit.

The park works best for travelers who want a low-key walk, birding stop, or winter sledding outing without driving far from the city. Paths are generally gentle, and the scenery changes quickly enough to make even a short loop feel worthwhile.
