By car, Akron is at the junction of I-76, I-77, and the Ohio Turnpike (I-80), making it one of the better-connected cities in northeast Ohio. Cleveland is 40 minutes north on I-77, Columbus two hours south on I-71, Pittsburgh two hours east on I-76.
By air, the closest major airport is Cleveland Hopkins (CLE), about 45 minutes north — most travellers fly into Cleveland and rent a car or take the short shuttle. Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK), 30 minutes south, has a thinner schedule (mostly Delta, Spirit, and seasonal service) and is sometimes cheaper.
By bus, Greyhound and Megabus stop downtown at the South Main Street terminal, with services to Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Erie.
By train, there is no Amtrak service to Akron itself; the nearest stations are Cleveland and Alliance, both about 45 minutes away.
