Akron's sights split neatly between the rubber-baron era (Stan Hywet, the Goodyear and Firestone legacies, the Airdock) and the post-industrial reinvention (the Akron Art Museum, the canal-side park along Lock 3, the breweries downtown). On the edge of town the Cuyahoga Valley National Park puts hiking trails, waterfalls, and a scenic railroad within twenty minutes of Main Street. None of it is on the typical out-of-town tourist itinerary, which is exactly why it is worth a couple of days.
