A landscape cemetery laid out in 1842 on a low rise south of downtown, with views across the Scioto Valley and the graves of several Ohio governors and U.S. senators, including Allen Trimble and William Allen. Like many large 19th-century American cemeteries, Grandview was designed as a park as much as a burial ground, and it remains pleasant for a quiet hour of walking.
Look for the unusual cast-iron grave markers — once a Chillicothe foundry speciality — and the small Civil War section near the centre.
