Lake Erie's shoreline near Cleveland is more cliff-like than sandy, but a few beaches are worth visiting. Edgewater State Park is very near downtown with excellent views of the Cleveland skyline and plenty of park areas for picnics. Huntington Beach in Bay Village, west of Cleveland, is in a charming lakefront suburb and attracts a nice family crowd. Mentor Headlands, east of the city, is the largest and most attractive natural beach in the area.
Most beaches around Greater Cleveland are popular for picnics, sunbathing, and watching sunsets over the lake, but swimming is limited.
