Toledo's location at the western end of Lake Erie puts the islands and lakeshore towns of northern Ohio within an easy day's reach. Port Clinton (an hour east) is the jumping-off point for ferries to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island. Sandusky (90 minutes east) is the home of the Cedar Point amusement park and a respectable downtown of its own. North into Michigan, Detroit is an hour up I-75 and worth a day; Greenfield Village in Dearborn especially.
