Fairfax is a one-street town with a heavy history. The two old bank buildings on Main Street and the empty lot where the Smith house once stood are the practical sights; the Pawhuska–Fairfax–Gray Horse loop through Osage County, with stops at the Osage Nation Museum in Pawhuska and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, gives the town its proper context.
