Lake Henryetta and Nichols Lake

Two small lakes near Henryetta provide the main outdoor recreation for the area. Lake Henryetta, just south of town, is the larger of the two and the site of the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. Both lakes are stocked and popular with local anglers — bass and catfish are the main catches. Nichols Lake is quieter and better for a relaxed afternoon.

Neither lake has extensive facilities or organized recreation, but both have access points for bank fishing. Bring your own gear; there are no formal rental operations. The surrounding countryside in this part of Okmulgee County is rolling, wooded hill country that can be genuinely beautiful in fall when the oaks turn.
