Isle of Capri

Old-line Krebs Italian restaurant, established 1950

The Isle of Capri sits a couple of blocks from Pete's Place and runs on the same template — a multigenerational Italian family, dim wood-panelled dining rooms, Choc beer on tap, and an Italian-American menu that rewards arriving hungry. The Lovera family opened it in 1950 and still runs it.

The lamb fries here have their fierce partisans, as does the steak Capri and the house lasagne. If you have time for two meals in Krebs, eat at one of the Italians for dinner and the other for lunch the next day; locals will not agree on which is better.
