The Ellsworth Street Bridge crosses the Willamette River at the northern edge of Albany's historic core, offering views up and down the river and back toward the town's Victorian skyline. The bridge itself is a 1925 steel-truss structure with enough old-fashioned engineering character to be worth a pause, particularly for the views of the river valley.
The riverfront park on the Albany side of the bridge connects to the Monteith Riverpark, a pleasant green space used for the city's summer festivals. Walking across the bridge and back is a good way to understand Albany's geography — the town developed between the Calapooia and Willamette rivers, and the riverfront is one of its most enjoyable public spaces.
