Linn County Courthouse

The Linn County Courthouse, completed in 1940 in a stripped Classical style, stands at the centre of downtown Albany. It replaced an 1887 courthouse and is notable for its clean lines and the quality of its construction — built with PWA funding during the New Deal era, it was designed to last. The building sits on the main plaza and serves as the civic anchor of the downtown historic district.

The courthouse is surrounded by other historic commercial buildings that together form one of the most intact Victorian-era downtowns in Oregon. Worth a look for the architecture and the general character of a small county seat that still functions as its founders intended — with working offices, a post office, and restaurants on the ground floors of century-old brick buildings.
