Getting Around

Eugene is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the United States — flat, gridded, with a well-maintained network of paths and lanes. Downtown, the university, Whiteaker, and the riverfront parks are all easy on foot or two wheels.

Bike paths. The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail runs both banks of the Willamette for around 12 miles and is the spine of the system. Pre's Trail (bark chip) loops Alton Baker Park.

Buses. Lane Transit District (LTD) runs the local network, including the EmX bus rapid transit on the busiest corridors. Useful, but the city is small enough that you may not need it.

Driving and parking. Easy by city standards. Downtown parking is metered and abundant. The university has limited public parking on weekdays; bike or bus is faster.
