A 1,150-acre reservoir in the hills southwest of Forest Grove, created in 1975 by damming Scoggins Creek for irrigation and flood control. It is now the largest recreation lake in this part of Oregon, with a 10.5-mile loop road, swimming beaches, a marina, and well-stocked fishing -- bass, trout, perch, and steelhead.
The lake is busy on summer weekends and quiet the rest of the year. The loop road is popular with cyclists; mountain bikers use the trail network on the hillsides above. There is a day-use fee in summer. Best months are May and June, when the surrounding hills are still green and the crowds have not yet arrived, or September after the school year starts.
