A white clapboard building on the Pacific University campus, originally constructed in 1850 and now operating as a small pioneer museum. It is the oldest educational building still standing west of the Mississippi River, and the rooms inside have been laid out with period furniture, books, and personal effects from the founding years of the school.
Open most weekday afternoons during the school year and by request out of term; entry is free. Allow forty minutes for a careful look at the displays, plus another twenty if the curator on duty is in a talking mood -- which is the best way to absorb the place.
