A liberal-arts university of around 3,500 students that gives Forest Grove its identity. The compact campus is set on tree-shaded blocks just north of the downtown grid; the brick neo-Tudor buildings, the broad lawns, and the white-clapboard Old College Hall make for an easy half-hour stroll.
Old College Hall is the highlight -- a small clapboard building that has been moved twice and now functions as a museum of the university's pioneer history. The Kathrin Cawein Gallery in the Scott Hall building hosts changing exhibitions of regional art and is free to enter. The whole campus is open to visitors; weekday mornings during term are the most lively.
