Powell's City of Books (see Things to Do) is the unmissable shopping stop. The Pearl District has galleries and design shops. NW 23rd Avenue has boutiques, independent clothing stores, and cafes. The Saturday Market near the Burnside Bridge sells local crafts and art. Lloyd Center is the main conventional shopping mall, on the east side of the river.
