Getting There

Johnstown is about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh and 95 miles west of Harrisburg, in the Conemaugh Valley in the Allegheny Mountains. Access is mainly by car.

By car is the most practical option. From Pittsburgh, take US Route 22 east or the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) east to US-219 south. The drive takes about 90 minutes depending on traffic. From Philadelphia, it's about 4 hours via the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The roads through the Allegheny Mountains are scenic but can be slow in bad weather.

By bus, Greyhound and FlixBus serve Johnstown with connections to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and other Pennsylvania cities. The bus stop is in or near the downtown area. Journey time from Pittsburgh is roughly 2 hours.

By air, the nearest commercial airports are Pittsburgh International (about 70 miles west) and Altoona Blair County Airport (about 45 miles north), which handles limited regional traffic. Most visitors fly into Pittsburgh and drive.

By train, Amtrak does not serve Johnstown directly. The nearest Amtrak stations are Altoona (on the Pennsylvanian line between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh) and Pittsburgh itself.
