Everhart Museum

The Everhart Museum sits in Nay Aug Park, north of downtown — a small but eclectic collection covering natural history, American folk art, and a surprisingly good set of European and American paintings. It was founded in 1908 by a local doctor, and the collection still reflects his interests: a mounted dodo skeleton, Tiffany glass, John James Audubon prints, and a roomful of Dutch Old Masters.

The galleries are intimate and easily seen in an hour. Entry is by donation. The museum is at the high end of Nay Aug Park, which is itself worth a wander — there is a deep gorge with a waterfall and a couple of looping woodland trails.
