Narragansett is a coastal town on the south shore of Rhode Island, looking out across the Atlantic and Narragansett Bay. It has been a beach resort since the 19th century — the ornate stone Towers, the last remnant of a grand Victorian casino that burned down in 1900, still straddle the road leading to the beach.
Narragansett Town Beach is the main draw, a wide sandy stretch popular with surfers and families. The Point Judith area at the southern tip has a lighthouse, a fishing harbour at Galilee, and the ferry to Block Island. In summer the town is busy but never overwhelming — it has a relaxed, unpretentious feel compared to the Newport scene across the bay.
