The Cathedral of Saint John is one of Providence's early Episcopal landmarks. The parish was established in 1722, making it one of Rhode Island's original colonial parishes, while the present church building dates from 1810.
The cathedral is a compact historic stop on the edge of College Hill, close enough to combine with the Rhode Island State House, the Providence Athenaeum, and the RISD Museum.
