Folly Beach's main appeal is the beach itself: six miles of Atlantic coastline, a long pier for fishing and sunset watching, and waves reliable enough for surfing. The northeast end of the island has the Morris Island Lighthouse and good kayaking water. Center Street, the main commercial strip, has independent surf shops, ice cream stands, and the kind of easygoing retail that fits a beach town.
