Upcountry History Museum

A well-organised history museum covering the fifteen counties of upstate South Carolina from the early 18th century to the present. Permanent exhibits trace the region's development from Cherokee settlement and the Revolutionary War through the cotton and textile mill era that defined the Piedmont economy for over a century. The museum is part of the Smithsonian Institution Affiliates program and is a good companion to a visit to the Greenville County Museum of Art — both are on the north end of Main Street, within walking distance of each other.
