Chattanooga National Cemetery was established during the Civil War after the Battles of Chattanooga. Its graves and memorials connect the city to the 1863 campaign, later American wars, and a small group of German prisoners of war from World War I.
It is a sober stop, not a casual park. Visit if you are following Chattanooga's battlefield history or want a quieter counterpoint to Lookout Mountain and the riverfront.
