Tennessee Aquarium

World-class freshwater aquarium tracing water from mountain streams to the ocean

The largest freshwater aquarium in the world when it opened in 1992, and still one of the best. Two buildings -- River Journey and Ocean Journey -- trace water from Appalachian mountain streams to the open ocean. The river building is the standout, with otters, sturgeon, and a walk-through forest canopy. Allow two to three hours for both buildings.
